Hawks suffer first loss of season, 81-74, to Collin

PLANO -- Lamar State College Port Arthur will have to pack away its dreams of a perfect season after a road loss Friday at the East-West Challenge  but they didn't go down without a fight.

Trailing by as many as 12 in the first half, the Seahawks came back to get ahead of host team Collin County Community College in the second half but couldn't hold on as the Cougars escaped with an 81-74 non-conference win.

Simeon Richardson-Collins picked up another double-double performance for the 3-1 Seahawks, scoring 19 points with 13 rebounds, while Deuce Guidry added 17 points for LSCPA. Adam Scherbakov hit five 3-pointers to contribute 16 points for the Hawks and Rashawn Ford Jr. chipped in 11 points.
