PORT ARTHUR, Texas – The Lamar State College Port Arthur Seahawks look to remain unbeaten at home when they host the Panola College Ponies in the Region XIV opener for both squads at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Carl Parker Center.
The Seahawks (6-2 overall) are 6-0 at home this season. LSCPA has been idle since a 79-52 home win over Strength N Motion International on Nov. 25.
Panola (4-4) is ranked 25th overall in the latest National Junior College Athletic Association poll. The Ponies have lost three straight and are 2-4 away from their home court this season.
Panola leads the all-time series with LSCPA 11-5. The Ponies have won the last 10 meetings between the two squads.
Nisani Mendez leads LSCPA in scoring, averaging 19.2 points per game. Overall, the Seahawks have five players averaging double figures in scoring. Zion Young averages 15.9 ppg, Isaiah Brooks contributes 11 ppg, J'Mar Franklin contributes 10 ppg, while Martin Adonry averages a double-double with 10.3 ppg and 10.4 rebounds per contest.
Keenan Emmanuel leads Panola in scoring, averaging 12.3 points per game.
The Seahawks are at Kilgore College at 4 p.m. Saturday before returning to the Carl Parker Center to host Blinn College at 4 p.m. Dec. 10 in the final home game of 2025.
"We have a very strong region," LSCPA coach Lance Madison said. "Last year, three teams from our region made the Elite 8, with Trinity Valley winning the national championship."
