KILGORE, Texas – Zion Young led the Lamar State College Port Arthur Seahawks in scoring for the second straight game, but the Seahawks dropped a 72-62 decision to the host Kilgore College Rangers in a Region XIV men's basketball game on Saturday.
Young had 15 points, while Christian Andrews and Isaiah Brooks each added 10 points for LSCPA (6-4 overall, 0-2 Region XIV). Brooks also had a team-high eight rebounds for the Seahawks. J'Mar Franklin came off the bench to score nine points in the loss.
Kilgore (8-2, 1-1), ranked 23rd in the nation in the latest NJCAA poll, was led by Antoine Shannon's 18 points. The Rangers held a 34-26 advantage at halftime en route to improving to 6-1 at home.
LSCPA returns to the Carl Parker Center to host Blinn College at 4 p.m. Wednesday in the final home game of the fall semester. The Seahawks will have to wait until Feb. 21 for their chance at revenge against the Rangers when Kilgore comes to the Carl Parker Center.
